About Us

At NorthStar Education Consulting, we provide comprehensive support for Korean families seeking the very best in U.S. education and student care. Our services are built around two pillars: guardianship and education consulting.

Through our Guardianship Plans, we ensure that international students have trusted, local support while studying in the United States. From emergency coverage and airport transfers to regular check-ins, academic liaison, and personal support, our guardianship programs give parents peace of mind and students the confidence to thrive far from home.

Our Education Consulting services help students stand out in the competitive world of prep school and college admissions. We specialize in guiding athletes and outlier talents, shaping their unique stories into compelling applications for Ivy League and other top universities.

In addition, we offer flexible À La Carte services for day-to-day student needs, as well as Summer Storage solutions that simplify transitions between school years. For athletes, we also provide specialized hockey programs and camps in both the U.S. and Vancouver.

Our mission is simple: to support the whole student — academically, personally, and athletically — while providing families with the trust and care they deserve.

About the Owner

Kenneth Chung brings a unique blend of experience in education consulting and youth mentorship. Before founding NorthStar Education Consulting, he worked as a Product Manager for a global technology company.

Earlier in his career, he served as a law enforcement officer in Wisconsin, where he was recognized as Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for the state and School Resource Officer of the Year nationally (1 of only 10 selected in the U.S.). In this role, he built strong relationships with students, parents, educators, and administrators — skills that directly translate into the guardianship work he does today. In addition to his role as a School Resource Officer, he mentored students through the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

He also spent six years in Korea and a year in Shanghai working in both strategic consulting and uhak (study abroad) consulting. During that time, he helped many of Korea’s top students gain admission to leading universities in the U.S. and U.K., giving him deep insight into both Western and Korean academic expectations.

Today, he lives in the Boston area with his wife and two boys. He was born in San Francisco, grew up in Northern California, and is a native English speaker who is also proficient in Korean.
